The process

image imagethought I’d share the process I use for this newest art of mine….not that it’s anything special at all….(it just gives me something to write about!).  I obviously start with a pencil sketch, tho I have to be careful, as once the pen colour goes over the top, the pencil marks cannot be erased, and some colours are more transparent than others…so a bit of thinking ahead is necessary.  Coming up with the various patterns is always  quite a task, and also which colours to use…is there too much of this…not enough of that…        Then it’s filling in with the main blocks of colour, which is where I’m at with this one now. The next stage is where the whole thing goes ‘pop’, by adding all the final details….. White marks…black lines….dots…diamonds…shading with the less vibrant pens…. It goes on. Basically  each picture is done in layers.

Still at it …!

im on a mission to keep at this, as I would like to get some on one or two art selling websites. I’m spending much longer on each one; I’ll get the basic shapes done first in a sketch, fill in with blocks of colour, and hen go over the whole thing again with all the details, and that is the part where they come alive.  There is a lot of this kind of art about…big colourful hair. Obviously lots of us 60/70’s girls with memories of the Physcadelic art!                                                                          Anyways, here’s my latest 2. You’ll notice that one has holly, stars, and baubles…hmmm… It’s meant to be a Christmas card! Actually, if there is anyone there reading my little blog, and sees this one, let me know what you think of its potential as a Christmas card! I really appreciate honest helpful criticism – you won’t offend me!

‘Bird Brain’

image interestingly this painting original had a hand under the chin but it didn’t work! So I had to cut it out, stick the main drawing onto another support, and continue in the same vein as the rest.  For this reason it will only be available as prints.
imageimageimageSo here they are, not sure what had caught their attention! Tonto is on the right and Yoyo the left. He is 2kg heavier than she is! A right old whopper! We also have a new addition to the household, Mollie, our working cocker. She is now a year old, and along with Bessie our Jack Russel, that’s 4 4 legged friends, who do all get along, thankfully!
….. And those cats….. Yep, they’re all grown up now. Much easier and not so skittish! Yoyo, is more laid back…nothing fazes her. Tonto, on the other hand is a complete wuss of a puss, and scared of his own shadow! But I’m making him deal with stuff. It wasn’t working being too genteel with him, so I’m hauling him around a bit and it seems to be working!

An Eye For An Eye

imageslightly different again… A quick sketch of an eye, little bit of Sharpie pen colour and a finger smudge of water…. More luck than judgement with this one!
